GMS Contract Uplift for 2010/11

The Doctors’ and Dentist Review Body pay recommendation of 1.34% was rejected by the government and they have imposed a gross uplift of 0.8% for 2010/11.

However, the uplift will be applied in a similar manner to last year, with the aim of reducing correction factors and reinvest in the global sum. This means practices who are still dependant on the MPIG correction factor will only receive half of this uplift, whereas practices who don’t rely on the correction factor will receive an uplift of 2%.  As the cost to opt out of out of hours is 6% of the global sum and does not include the correction factor, this will reduce the uplift even further for those with an MPIG correction factor.

The uplift will be applied as follows:-

  • The global sum equivalent (global sum plus correction factor) will be increased by 0.41%
  • The global sum will increase from £63.21 to £64.59, a 2.18% increase.
  • The QOF income will be uplifted by 0.41% from £126.77 to £127.29 per point.
  • Enhanced services will be uplifted by 0.41%.

Practices will receive payments backdated to April 2010.
